A sculpture trail with a fine wine finish

If you enjoy enjoy nature, sculptures and vineyards with great food and great wine then Brick Bay vineyard and sculpture trail is somewhere you should put on your to do list.  It is located in the Snell’s beach area, about 1 hour drive north of Auckland (New Zealand).   Public transport won’t get you here, so it does require a car, a boat or a helicopter.   You can get there by sea -landing at Sandspit or Snells beach and walking or taking a cab for the last few minutes.  They do have a helicopter pad which you can ring and reserve if that is how you roll! .   If you are heading further north for another reason, it is it well worth a detour at Warkworth (5-10 mins from here) to break up your journey.

The sculpture trail has 50-70 sculptures.  It is a gentle walk through native bush that takes about 90 minutes with kids and is thoroughly enjoyable for all.  The kids loved looking at the sculptures in nature – such a unique experience.   The pieces of art on the trail are available to purchase.

We did our tasting and eating in the outdoor vine covered tasting area.  It had the kids playground right in front of us to watch the kids as we tasted some great wine.

If you are wanting to combine a bit of culture with wine tasting and eating, I would certainly recommend a visit to Brick Bay Sculpture trail and vineyard.  It is not too far from Auckland and is great for kids and adults.  Further information on can be found on their website: http://www.brickbaysculpture.co.nz
